Why it is called butterfly valve?

Sanitary Pneumatic Butterfly Valve is called so because of its disc, which is positioned in the center of the valve body and is supported by a stem. The disc is typically constructed from a thin stainless steel material and is designed to pivot around a central axis. When the stem is turned, the disc rotates and moves out of the fluid flow path, allowing the fluid to pass through the valve. The disc resembles the wings of a butterfly, which is why this type of valve is called a butterfly valve. The Sanitary Pneumatic Butterfly Valve is commonly used in food,dairy,beverage and pharmecy applications due to its low weight, compact size, and ease of operation.
